The Moldy Peaches and the Birth of Success

I am going to keep it very short tonight.

Gottta love the simple, simple sounds of the Moldy Peaches.  Lo-Fi at its best. The duo disbanded a while back to concentrate on their solo careers and then…well…the lottery hit.  Juno was released became and instant classic and yes, the unknown duo had several hit tracks on the soundtrack of hit movie. The rest of the story is self explanatory.. The countless hours “honing their craft”were finally rewarded with the recognition it deserved. Give them a listen! They prove that less is often more. Moreover, it keeps the rockstar dream alive for the technically-inept guitar players (strummers) out there. Know three chords?

Support Rhapsody Blogs

With so many Rhapsody users out there I often wonder why traffic is so slow for the many Rhapsody audioblogs out there. My fellow Rhapsody bloggers make a valiant effort to bring Rhapsody users hidden gems that are often overlooked by the editors at the home site.

Also for those of you who are not Rhapsody users you can still use the service to listen to 25 free tracks a month. Yes, I said free music! Give it a try.

Here is list of the Rhapsody blogs (audioblogs) that exist and that should be visited by all Rhapsody users on a regular basis. Support them, because believe me they do it for the love of music.

Please show them all some love! They deserve it!

The Godfather of Afrobeat

I could write volumes about the “Godfather of Afrobeat”, Fela Kuti, but I will leave that up to the wonderful community at wikipedia (prior link) and the the Fela Project. Also check out answers.com for some more interesting historical info on one of the greatest musicians of all time.

There are so many incredible Fela Kuti albums to choose from on Rhapsody. One of my favorites is Beast of No Nations/O.D.O.O.. The track of choice is O.D.O.O., a 31 minute gem, but for those of you who do not have the time to sit through a track of this length I recommend starting  at the 12 minute mark. Give it a listen you will not be disappointed.
