When describing Moped Brolin Winning’s statement in Elemental Magazine says it best, “Ideal for jazz heads, instrumental aficionados, and open-minded music lovers everywhere”.

Riding Solo is a wonderful listen. There are a few tracks on the album that are constantly in my rotation. A few tracks actually made it to my “Clean The House” playlist! Enjoy!

Album Highlights

Okay, I found the following video on YouTube. The music is by Moped, but it is not indicative of the style of music that exists on Riding Solo. These guys are known to have a little fun and hey, I certainly played my fair share of frisbee golf while living in Missoula, MT , Eugene, OR and Flagstaff, AZ so I can relate.

Heavy On The Bass

I have been a bit slow on the posts recently and I promise to get back to the norm this week.

Charles Fambrough is a talented bass player from Philadelphia that, like most bass players, goes unheralded. The deep bass lines on this album are hypnotic. Mr. Fambrough, in my opinion, is one of the most underrated bass players of our time. I think you will soon agree after listening to his album on Rhapsody.

It is hard to imagine that over 17 years ago I ventured into my first Phish Concert. Wow, I feel old. Anyway, this is an obvious choice, but as I said when I first began this audioblog, I am not trying to impress anyone by sticking to a certain genre, rather I am trying to archive what I like to listen and hopefully along the way a few Rhapsody members will join me for the ride.

Featuring musicians such as Paul Chambers, Kenny Burrell, Art Taylor, Jimmy Cobb, Hank Mobley, Zoot Sims, Red Garland you can quickly see why this John Coltrane box set is an audiophile essential.

The album features all-star sessions that Trane led on the Prestige label. The box set plays out in chronological order so you get a wonderful glimpse into the evolution of arguably one of the greatest Jazz musicians during his short stint at the label. This is a must have. Add it to your “My Rhapsody” section immediately.
