A Jazzy Flair Lends Best

Kero One’s label, Plug says it best.
Lazy on my part, maybe; but as I said, his label effectively touches on his history as an artist. After listening to this album I am certain you will want to know more about an artist who certainly deserves props for production.
Also, check out the instrumental version of this album on Rhapsody (the one I prefer). The MC work needs a little wor, but as I said the production element is on point.

Easing Back Into Things

Random Thoughts
After a brief one-week hiatus I am finally back. The bug has passed and I am “Just Feeling It“.
Eddy Senay, a funky guitarist from Detroit, provides a laid-back soulful set of instrumental funk on this album, might I add the only album currently representing this artist on Rhapsody. Hint, hint, wink wink.
I seem to be stuck in the land of the jazz-guitar, so enjoy it while it lasts. Next week it could Polish Funk; accordion, bass and a mean polka beat. Hmmm, that might actually be interesting.
Album Highlights
- Just Feeling It
- Jubo
- Rev. Lowdown
- Hot Thang
- Ain’t No Sunshine
I think I actually listed 5 out of the 8 tracks on the album. I think that speaks volumes.
Listen to Eddy Senay’s , Hot Thang!.
Junior’s Blues
October 19, 2007 by ListenThinkReact
It’s all blues and better yet, blues piano. The album consists of the back-to-basics lineup; drums, bass and piano. It’s all jazz-blues, with a touch of soul-jazz and hard bop. Inducted into the Jazz Hall of Fame in 1997, Junior Mance’s, Junior’s Blues, vacillates between hard-bop swing and cool, laid-back jazz-blues.
Sorry for the lack of posts this week, I am finally starting to feel myself again.

Germany Funks It Up
October 17, 2007 by ListenThinkReact
Funky instrumentals dominate this album. The Poets of Rhythm are seven guys who, at least on this album, have mastered modern-day, 70’s style funk. Hailing from Germany, the seven members that make up the band have created a flurry of singles of the funk-laden variety that should not be ignored. The sound is fine-tuned, yet eclectic and backed by the omnipresent funk backbeat.

Under the Weather and Behind the Iron Curtain

It is getting cold up here in the Green Mountains and I think the change in weather has taken its toll on my body. As a result I am keeping it very, very short tonight. Here ya go!
